I've started watching this new show on the Sci-Fi channel--Eureka. It's weird, a little mysterious, witty. Quite witty. Witty in the same style that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is witty. Dare I ask-- is it possible that Joss Whedon is somehow involved with Eureka? Really, it's uncannily Jossian. Maybe not so much in plot and themes, but the humor....
For example, after having his memory erased by a kind of neuralizer (yes, that part of the plot was pretty derivative from Men in Black), the sheriff says to the bad guy something like, "I know you have some kind of...thing. A memory-erasing or time-stopping or invisibling thing." Another character says, "Yeah, he said 'invisibling.'" Come on, that's Joss-esque.
Does anyone know?
My favorite Eureka moment from this week was the kid directing "A Midsummer Night's Encounter" -- "Note to self: less power to jetpack."

More on this:
Whedon collaborator David Greenwalt is credited as a consulting producer on Eureka according to Whedonesque.
The co-creator of Eureka, Andrew Cosby, explicitly shouts out to Buffy here.

I think the kid directing "A Midsummer Night's Invasion" (not "Encounter," actually) said something more like, "Note to self: adjust fuel mix on jetpack."
Not to be picky.
